Coffee/Cepea: Arabica rises 38% in Nov/24 and reaches highest average since '98

In November, the CEPEA/ESALQ indicator for type 6 arabica coffee, hard liquor for the better, accumulated a significant increase of 37.55%, or R$527.70/bag. The monthly average for this variety was R$1,774.67/sack of 60 kg, the highest since February 1998, in real terms (deflated by the IGP-DI for October/24). A survey by Cepea shows that this indicator has been operating above R$ 2,000/sc of 60 kg since November 26, ending the month at R$ 2,098.06/sc, the highest real daily value since June 9, 1997. According to Cepea researchers, the strong appreciation of coffee is mainly related to the restricted supply of both arabica and robusta in the national spot market and the expectation of a smaller robusta harvest in Vietnam.
