AgRural Reduces Brazil's Soybean Crop Forecast to 168.2 Million Tons

Brazil's soybean production in 2024/25 is expected to reach 168.2 million tons, AgRural said on Monday (24), cutting its forecast from the 171 million tons estimated in January.

“Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul, which had already suffered cuts last month due to the drought, had a new negative adjustment in their productivity. This time, however, the one who led the cut in the Brazilian estimate was Rio Grande do Sul,” the consultancy said in a statement.

The survey on the progress of the oilseed harvest indicated that 39% of the cultivated area had already been harvested by last Thursday (20), against 23% recorded the previous week and 40% a year ago.

The work was driven by higher temperatures, more spaced rains and pressure to plant the second corn crop within the window in the Center-West, AgRural pointed out.

For corn, the consultancy said that the estimated area for the 2025 second crop was 64% planted in the center-south, with a strong increase compared to the 36% of the previous week.
