Pork/Cepea: Pork gains competitiveness against beef

Research by Cepea shows that prices for live pigs and meat continue to rise in the Brazilian market and - in some regions - have renewed the nominal highs of the respective historical series. Even with the increases in value, the competitiveness of pork protein against its bovine competitor in this part of November is the highest since June 2023, since the beef market has recorded strong and consistent increases in prices.

Compared to chicken meat, a cheaper competitor, pork has become less competitive this month. Specifically in the domestic pig market, Cepea researchers indicate that the heated domestic and foreign demand for meat and the difficulty in finding new batches of animals for slaughter continue to boost prices in the sector as a whole.
