Demand for corn remains strong in the US and futures prices start Friday rising in Chicago
Friday (22) began with corn futures prices operating in the negative on the Brazilian Stock Exchange (B3). The main quotes fluctuated between R$71.89 and R$73.15 at around 10:14 am (Brasília time).
January/25 was quoted at R$72.14, down 0.32%, March/25 was worth R$73.15, down 0.33% and May/25 was trading at R$71.89, down 0.08%.
On the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CBOT), Friday began with positive movements for international corn futures, which were rising at around 10:06 am (Brasília time).
December/24 was quoted at US$ 4.29, up 2.25 points, March/25 was worth US$ 4.38, up 2.00 points, May/25 was trading at US$ 4.45, up 1.75 points, and July/25 was worth US$ 4.48, up 1.50 points.
According to the international website Successful Farming, prices are being sustained amid signs of strong demand for grain from the United States.
“Corn sales to foreign buyers rose 14% week on week to 1.49 million metric tons, the US Department of Agriculture said in a report. Mexico, Japan and Colombia were among the biggest buyers of the grain in the week to November 14,” the publication said.
