Corn futures open Friday with highs in Chicago still supported by good demand for US grains

Friday (20) began with corn futures prices trading in the negative on the Brazilian Stock Exchange (B3). The main quotes fluctuated between R$72.20 and R$73.73 at around 10:07 am (Brasília time). 

January/25 was quoted at R$73.73 with a drop of 0.30%, March/25 was worth R$72.96 with a loss of 0.44% and May/25 was worth R$72.20 with a drop of 0.28%. 

Foreign market

International corn futures prices opened Friday's trading session with positive movements on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CBOT), registering advances at around 10:02 a.m. (Brasília time). 

March/25 was quoted at US$ 4.43, up 3.00 points, May/25 at US$ 4.49, up 3.00 points, July/25 at US$ 4.52, up 3.00 points and September/25 at US$ 4.33, up 2.00 points. 

According to the international website Successful Farming, grain futures contracts rose in overnight trading due to continued optimism about demand for US products. 

According to the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), corn sales were recorded at 1.17 million tons, an increase of 24% over the week.
