Soybeans rise again in Chicago on Friday, dividing attention between the AMS and the new US crop

Soybean prices are rising again on the Chicago Stock Exchange this Friday (28). The market ended the last session with slight losses and is resuming these losses in today's session, with small gains of 2.25 to 6 points in the most traded contracts, around 8:20 am (Brasília time). May was at US$10.40 and July at US$10.50 per bushel. Corn and wheat also rose again.

The gains are still reflecting data from the USDA's Outlook Forum signaling a smaller area for soybeans in the 2025/26 US crop. On the other hand, however, the completion of the harvest in South America is also on traders' radar and is still exerting some pressure or limiting gains on the CBOT.

The harvest is now progressing at an almost normal pace due to better weather conditions, while in Argentina the crops are recovering after the losses they had accumulated due to the heat and drought.

Another point of attention for the soybean market, but for commodities in general, is the relationship between China and the United States. On Friday, China warned that the imposition of new US tariffs will affect bilateral dialog. In response to US President Donald Trump's additional tariffs, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian stated that threats are not the right way to negotiate: 'mutual respect is the basic premise'.
