Eggs/Cepea: In 2026, production, consumption, and exports are expected to continue growing

The egg market is expected to maintain the expansion rate observed in recent years in 2026, according to researchers at Cepea. However, some challenges remain, particularly those related to avian influenza. On the supply side, calculations by Cepea indicate that growth in Brazilian egg production for consumption in 2026 will be more moderate than expected for 2025, with an increase of 1%, potentially reaching 4.11 billion dozen. Regarding demand, national consumption is expected to show more significant growth. According to ABPA, the expectation is that in 2025, the country will reach 287 eggs per capita, entering for the first time the ranking of the 10 largest per capita egg consumers in the world. For 2026, ABPA projects that consumption will reach 307 eggs per capita, which would place Brazil in 7th position among the countries with the highest per capita consumption of this protein. Despite estimates of sector growth, avian influenza will continue to be a risk factor. According to researchers at Cepea, throughout 2025, the virus spread to several countries, reaching commercial farms in South Africa, the United States, Japan, various European countries, among others, including Brazil, which, although it quickly regained its disease-free status, lives with the threat of the virus, as does the rest of the world. In the international market, the spread of avian influenza represents an opportunity for Brazilian exports, especially considering that Brazil has shown itself capable of meeting the growing international demand, Cepea researchers point out. The resumption of the pre-listing system for poultry and egg establishments by the European Union, announced in November 2025, corroborates the confidence of the international sector and signals the potential growth of Brazilian egg exports in 2026.
